| GoDaddy Hosting getting a bad rap? |
|
|
While I've never found anyone to complain about GoDaddy.com as a registrar, their hosting certainly leaves something to be desired. I'd read in the past about problems with their hosting that was blocking the Googlebot on their clients websites. How's that for a spectacular way to damage a host's reputation?
Some apparently have become increasingly fed-up with the support for their hosting services. So much so, that they've registered the domain that GoDaddy didn't have the foresight to register themselves...

There is apparently a litany of different complaints against GoDaddy Hosting by many webmasters, but in this case, the frustrated webmaster who started GoDaddySux.com had SSI working, then two months into their hosting contract SSI stopped working. I'm not sure that they ever got it back...
quote:
THE GODADDY P's ANSWERS
(in chronological order over a 48-hour period)
JOSEPH P.: "We do not support Server Side Includes."
ANTONIO P.: "... we do support the use of Server Side Includes ..."
CLINT P.: "In order for server-side includes to work, they need to be used as a .shtml document on the hosting account and the included file must be located in the hosting account's CGI folder."
ANTONIO P.: "I have forwarded this issue to a Supervisor ..."
LEVI P.: "He does not have a direct line here."
JENNIFER P.: "I have forwarded this issue to a supervisor ..."
THOM P.: "... we can not find the code for the virtual script call ..."
JENNIFER P.: "Due to changes to the hosting plan SSI will only work from the cgi directory now."
TIM P.: "We do support SSI."
AMBER P.: "Our Linux hosting plans support virtual includes."
I just don't understand why a company so popular as a registrar, would let their reputation go to hell over bad hosting support.
