The European union is getting ready in offering a .eu domain. Should be available in quarter 4 of this year. What I find the neatest is their foresight: to keep every joe doe from trying to grab up domains like microsoft.eu, ebay.eu and bytech.eu (lolz), for the first half a year or so they registrations will be very limited where large companies have first dibs on the domain that reflects their name. Very smart!
