| Netscape 8 "breaks" IE |
|
|
M$ is advising users to uninstall Netscape 8, as it breaks IE.
quote: Dave Massy, a senior program manager for IE, warned users in a blog posting that after installing Netscape 8, IE will render XML files as a blank page, including XML files that have an XSLT transformation.
Microsoft did not make clear what versions of IE were affected, but a user of the DeveloperDex forum said he experienced the problem on version 6 of IE, which had been patched with Windows Service Pack 2.
Microsoft said it is investigating the problem and will work with Netscape to resolve it. It advised a "workaround" of uninstalling Netscape 8 and editing the registry settings.

First of, IE is already broken in a million places. Wut's another glitch? That aside, it sounds like an IE/Windows glitch revealed.
There are some awsome comments at the above URL... here are just a couple:
quote: Haven't we had enough of the MS problems to last us 3 lifetimes?
Good programs which are required (by the operator) to run under windows have developed a method of putting the villiage idiot in the corner and give it 32 MB of memory to play with and get on with doing the job their program was designed to do.
... and:
quote: It seems to me microsoft wants to hold all computer software makers resonsible for their non compatible products. If i had to patch a pair of pants as many times i Had to patch microsoft software i would have thrown them out a long time ago.Hey microsoft ,how many other software products will i have to uninstall before you make your software compatible with other software? you know you are not the leader in this this business ,only a small patch in the scheme of things.
How's this for a one liner response:
Netscape 8 Breaks IE...
Negative, IE broken long before Netscape 8.
