Oh my lord. MS is the signature of amateur engineering.
.png has been around, what, a decade? It's been a standard for 8 years. MS lies, claiming IE supports .png since 2000.
But they don't. What a joke. Their implementation of .png doesn't do .png. Not according to the standard.
It's been five years and they apparently can't get their dotfeces collected enough to repair the problem.
The result? YOUR web is less efficient, looks and functions worse than it should and people like me work harder and charge YOU more money for less value.
Ya like that?

It's not compliant. Alpha transparency is utterly broken because thier png library has been buggy for 5 years.
Thing is, it works fine in Mac IE because they had to contract out that work - the Mac IE team. But if you use Windows to browse the internet, it's YOU they don't give a shove about.
They say they support it because they can partially display the graphic. Well, you can call a bicycle a car and "prove" it by driving it on a street. But that doesn't make it a car. And you don't support png until you comply with its standard.
Which means doing alpha transparencies like the Lord intended.
Bottom line: png is the absolute best network graphics format on earth. (best compression, best features, lossless) Now it's been standardized for eight years and still no juice from IE. Wherezza juice? is all I'm askin...

M$ has frustrated me to no ends for years. I have moved onto Linux, but as a web designer still have to deal with their idiocy. Who ever said M$ is innovative should be sued for blasphemy and false advertising.
