Okay, it's not exactly a great looking site, nor does it have the best navigation, but old Vincent Flanders has made a big impact (and a lot of money) teaching web design by example, showing you what not to do. From avoiding "mystery meat" site navigation to eschewing Flash, Splash, Java, blinking text and animated GIFs you'll find everything that you want to avoid at Web Pages that Suck...
I have just started a website site and am new to internet advertising.
could someone put in laymens terms what pfd and php and html is? I trying really hard and get frustrated sometimes.

Great site. Every new webmaster should take a look at the worst site examples so they won't make the same mistakes.
